How To Fill Your Fountain Pen

Using natural ink is a quiet, intentional and intuitive process. Its a moment to slow down and connect with your materials of the earth.

So, whether you're new to fountain pens or just getting familiar with Abenaart natural plant based inks, this guide walks you through how to fill your piston pen with ease.

What You’ll Need:

  • Your clear refillable piston fountain pen

  • A bottle of Abenaart natural ink

  • A soft cloth or paper towel for cleanup

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Open your pen
    Unscrew the body and remove the cap.

  2. Twist the piston
    Turn the end of the pen counterclockwise to lower the piston inside the cartridge.

  3. Dip the nib into the ink
    Fully submerge the nib (metal tip) into your ink bottle so the breather hole is under the surface.

  4. Draw up the ink
    Slowly twist the piston clockwise to pull ink into the chamber. You'll see the ink fill the clear barrel.

  5. Wipe the nib
    Gently blot the nib with a soft cloth or paper towel to catch any drips.

  6. Reassemble and write
    Screw your pen back together, and you're ready to write with your natural Abenaart ink - enjoy !

Care Tips For Your Fountain Pen:

  • Store your pen upright when not in use.

  • If you won’t be using it for a while, empty and rinse with water.

  • Avoid letting natural inks sit in your pen for too long without use. If you do leave inks inside your pen for a while and need to clean it out, follow the steps above with lukewarm water to clean it our or for a deeper clean, use 1 part white vinegar to 9 parts distilled water to clean the barrel. Soak the nib and feed for 5 -10 minutes, then flush with water again.
