Collection: Tea, Coffee, Pigment Pieces
Coffee grounds, tea leaves, and pigment stains ... of the earth
These paintings are part of a larger series exploring my connection to ancestry through ritual and plants of the land, these works are steeped in memory, a process I have been using for over a decade. Tea leaves were my entry point into working with natural material, pigments of the earth and soil when I first moved to the U.S. they hold me tenderly as a plant guide whispering stories of the numerous tea ceremonies we had growing up. They carry the stories of migration across continents, across memory, across time. Each piece is slow-made, layered, and intimate. Symbolizing the quiet warmth of being held by something older than language.
